Claudia Ricci

A university teacher since 1998, Claudia Ricci has worked as a professional writer for national, local and regional newspapers, magazines and journals. She has published two novels and many works of short fiction, and edits a community literary blog.

Portfolio

An award-winning reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and former staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal, I´ve written for The New York Times, Parents, Natural History, Business Week, The Washington Post and Working Mother. I am a regular contributor to the Huffington Post.

Publications

I have published two novels, Dreaming Maples and Seeing Red, and many short stories. I teach both fiction and non-fiction writing and offer a full range of editing services to help doctoral students complete their dissertations.

University Faculty

A full-time faculty member at the University at Albany, SUNY since 1998, I spent a sabbatical year teaching at Georgetown University. I have developed innovative courses in literature, creative writing, happiness and the changing face of journalism. I love being in the classroom, helping students transform their lives through writing!

Painting and Photography

Over the years I have also discovered how much I love painting and photography. I am increasingly fascinated by the vast "storytelling" possibilities inherent in imagery and I am exploring storytelling via both digital photography and canvas painting.
